Really loud rattle coming from transmission

I have a Ford Fiesta 1.6 N/A with the IB5 manual transmission and it has a loud rattle coming from what I believe is the transmission. It sounds like a ticking sound or rattling while I'm idling and it gets louder and faster when the RPMs go up. It started when I money shifted to 1st instead of 2nd (embarrassing) and it stops when the clutch is pressed in. My friends and I think its the throw out bearing or the clutch or probably both. Preferably without going to a mechanic what's the best option for finding and buying the part and getting the transmission fixed?
