Active city stop not available

I have a Ford fiesta titanium x 2016 and Everytime I turn on the car this message pops up. Sadly I have looked it up but not found too much information about it. I have already checked the battery which is perfectly fine.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That feature was not available in North America. But I would recommend that you trace the circuit and check the quality of the negative earth/ground connection.

In the UK, Ford's Active City Stop is a driver-assist technology designed to help prevent or mitigate low-speed collisions in slow-moving traffic by automatically applying the brakes when it detects a potential collision.

Tells me one, if not several, sensors in the bumpers are not working so the system shuts down, or it otherwise has a fault so it is not enabled.

They can look like this...

Mount in holes and are clipped onto the holder

Since GPS is not working - it may mean a major electrical fault is at play here...check your fuses - and I mean all of them.

The Owners Manual might be able to provide some direction as to where those Fuses are located.

Considering how delicate these are, inspect and investigate your cars exterior for damages - make sure you didn't get hit when you were parked somewhere and these sensors got damaged.

My apologies for the late reply.

I have checked, cleaned and tested all of the sensors as well as replaced a good chunk of the fuses including the active city stop one with brand new fueses, and sadly it has not been fixed
The only other thing I can add to this is my car was stolen then recovered before I bought it, this sadly means that my keys are not orignal. as they are not the orignal admin keys, my key does not work either which seems to have a setting for active city stop.

I am waiting on a OBD2 scanner which should be coming soon and I hope to reset mykey though forscan


Do you think, as my car was stolen in the past as well as the keys notbeing orignal that it could casue active city stop to not work?

No, sounds more like, during the theft, they disabled, or removed a key module that has the programing in the module - to access, perform and report on the City Stop function. So it (the function) remains blacked or blanked out until it's restored. If you needed more information - look for clues as to what else that module may have done - like your GPS, which offers a stronger clue as to the module that would do this type of operations.

GPS requires satellite and triangulation to work so it calculates using programming the module stores inside it to operate. If that Module was removed, or disabled, GPS can't report your location to you or to any other method of tracking the systems anti-theft system that module had - would use to send data or ask for help. The Module would also have some sort of antenna and position monitoring so it can utilize the vehicles proximity sensors as a driving aid to keep you a safer distance away from other drivers more-so than many would otherwise keep a safe distance from; in stop-start and heavy traffic conditions. Its possible to- over-drive (forget to compensate space ahead for) the vehicle you're in as if you're transferring your visual cues into the vehicle ahead of you - (like training) hitting a vehicle causing a crash - because the operator got too comfortable and too close to the vehicle ahead of it and when the other driver needed to evade or come to quick stop - you added your momentum to the incident.

That's what City-Stop helps reduce, but to accomplish it, requires GPS and the use of those sensors.

So if the module for the programming to perform that function is not there, the system is expecting it, it's just not receiving any data about it trying to look for the module to be there and answer it's call-out.

The type of OBD programming needed to see this module is above and beyond many type of the simpler Hand-held check engine light types - this one requires either Forscan or a Ford dealership to investigate and see if the module is needed - possibly for MOT (inspection issues) but otherwise the vehicle doesn't require it because the operation is passive. Meaning- it's there as an observer, nothing more to help report information to you or anyone else whom may be monitoring for it else it won't affect operation except to annoy the operator with those messages and no GPS - except for the City Stop function which may be required in certain countries.
