Hi everyone & thank you for being able to register.
2016 1.0 Ecoboost
UK
Welcome to the Fiesta forum! We don’t have many of the 1.0 Fiesta here because we didn’t get many of the 1.0 Ecoboost Fiesta in the States. I suspect that it wasn’t popular here because it was a manual transmission only model and that killed the appeal of it.
One question I have for you is why are the UK forum, like ford owners club, so quiet in response to questions about problems and service issues related to their cars? The UK forums are basically devoid of information and discussion about solutions. I just found this to be a very strange takeaway from my searches through the discussion threads. Do you think that this is a cultural thing (ie; the growing onslaught of censorship)or do the forums have too many limits on what can be said? The UK forums have an extremely rigid rule set that can get a member restricted or banned with little or no recourse.

Apologies for the late reply,Scotman.
I honestly could not answer your question as I rarely go on forums. I searched a question I had & it led me here,so I joined. I have noticed in my previous search for answers that the answers were few & far between,so maybe you are correct.
I am surprised you are referring to the Ford Owners Club as it goes far,far back in the UK & I remember it being very popular at one time with enthusiastic owners.
Take care............

Welcome to the Ford Fiesta Forum. Please take a moment and introduce yourself, tell us what you currently drive or just say "Hi".[welcome]

Thanks again for joining, and welcome aboard!
Hi all! New member here!
Joining this community/forum as an owner of a 2013 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback! (Have had it just over a year now, and it’s actually the first car I’ve purchased and owned myself that is newer than around 2000’s or earlier— so hooray! lol)

Found this forum while browsing to find out more about my car and learn/discuss with others who have the same make/model and even better, exact year :)

Prior to the Fiesta, I’d mainly owned/driven VW’s or at certain points, although brief, a Subaru and a Toyota so I’m rather new to the world of Ford & what these cars are all about!

Looking forward to being here & learn / discussing with others especially so I can make sure i get to know my car well & make sure I can keep it nice and maintained, as well as just generally find/discuss various other ford fiesta specific things that come up with owning this sorta quirky but great little car!

Anyway just wanted to say hello and introduce myself! (and my car? lol) 😄 IMG_6418.jpeg

The primary concern with the Fiesta, or really any “modern” car or truck, is maintenance and repairs. Preventive maintenance is so important that I cannot overstate the importance of it. Components age out and become brittle or weak due to heat cycling. When they do fail they fail completely and catastrophically. So there are certain components under the hood that should be replaced by age instead of just mileage.
Other components, like the audio system and specifically for Fiesta, the Sync system are now basically obsolete. They will still have most of the functionality, but they are not getting any more updates from Microsoft and they will eventually fail because of their age and the harsh environment they operate in. Probably the most important thing to keep in mind is that the Fiesta is a car that is very much operating on electrical signals as much as mechanical power. We probably should create a “Fiesta survival thread” that details what must be done to reduce the amount of electrical glitches that occur as the Fiesta ages. There’s a lot of useful information here that can help you understand the issues and overcome the problems.
