This simply could be you have to "Re-boot" when you have powered it up.
Ok, just - turn key to ON, or Press Start to lite up the dash but no starting or running
With Radio on, press it's power button - then press it again...
Under Dashboard, behind Glovebox, locate the RADIO/SYNC fuse (mine in that little box is F10 - Audio Head Unit) Pull It - should quiet the Radio - but verify you get a "boot" screen (FORD AUDIO SYSTEM) and then nothing - by pressing the power button - then press it again after the FORD boot disappears.
Then re-insert Fuse - and double check the Power Button Works.
If this clears it, check to make sure all your BT devices are current and you don't have any duplicate names in your BT menu on the Smartphone - because it (SYNC) cannot resolve BT - devices with similar names but different MAC address during the handshake - something about a "Timeout" because it sees a name, but not te correct address to resolve and connect to,
I had this happen to me on several occasions when I transfer from one vehicle to another and the prior user didn't clear out the phone in memory on the car - but your smartphone is what is causing the contention - only needs to happen once and will lockout the radio until power is removed and reapplied to clear the condition - like a poorly managed error-trapping system needs a little TLC to help it along.
