Key not detected

Hi. I have a 2016 eco boost. I have just replaced the plastic parts of the key fob and put the little circuit board in top half of the key fob with a new battery and took the key off the bottom half of the old fob and put it in the new fob rather than get a get a new key cut. But I’ve obviously messedup somehow. The remote locks and unlocks the the car and the key goes in the ignition and turns the lock but the display comes up ‘key not detected’. My other key works fine. Answers on a postcard please…

e.g. - See MY Key in the Owners manual - the system needs two supervisor keys to let the next one work.

But you may need the electronics in the Original OLD key you're trying to refit - will need to be fixed. It may need a new battery or something inside needs to be repaired to make it re-produce the original string so the system can show it has both the OEM supervisor keys.
