IDS - Integrated Diagnostic System
VCI - Vehicle Communication Interface
Hello all, I'm hoping to DIY an ABS Module replacement. I've done a fair amount of research and learned a few annoying truths. First, an OEM ABS Module is considered obsolete and can only be found on Ebay. The reviews from the sellers on Ebay are strong, inviting some level of confidence to press forward. Next and more importantly, the VCI software needed to run with IDS in order to program the Module, will not install on my computer (Windows 11). The Ford IDS Requirements page lists the Operating System as Windows 10. I've seen replies to this online that some people have made it work with Windows 11 but there are not any clear instructions...feels flimsy. The logs from the installation error, "could not use bundled JRE", include this line "Failed with error code 193" - which Google tells me is an incompatibility error. To be clear, I have successfully installed IDS but not VCI onto my computer.

To the chase: Does anyone know how to make this stuff work on Windows 11?

You are blazing a new trail with this! You probably need to make sure that your computer is running on the newest version, 24H2 update. A ford technician friend told me that the screen display will not be the same as on the ford proprietary display. I have had some issues regarding vin editing BCM modules in my efforts to “de build “ certain functions on a 2011 Fiesta that I was modifying to a different body configuration.
I am more comfortable and experienced with nuts, bolts and wires than I am with chips, processors and interfaces. I know that the vin number critical components must be “made” compatible in order to communicate with the controllers. Which is your issue. I have found that some items cannot be simply switched off or deleted and maintain functionality in some critical components because even though they are not related in their function, they are related in their network.
I understand that you just need to make an abs module compatible. If you need one of those I have a couple that you are welcome to have if you would be willing to share the process you have to endure to get it edited to function with the forum.Just PM me and we can discuss the details and what I have available.
