Hello,

I drive a 2014 Ford Fiesta 1.0L T and i’ve been having this issue for a while. When I’m not on the accelerator, every 20ish minutes of driving the ‘Engine Malfunction Service Now’ displays on the centre screen.

The car goes into some sort of limp mode where the turbo builds no boost and the throttle seems to only open up halfway. It’s very sluggish.

As soon as I restart the car the message disappears and the car drives as normal?

I would be checking the condition of your intake hoses and also the tightness of the attachment clamps. You aren’t giving us much background information about when it was last serviced. So, the issue could have an electrical root cause if a sensor is damaged or fouled.

Serviced every 10,000 ks. I will check the tightness of everything and see how it goes.

If you got a OBD-II scanner, you might want to drive with someone whom can operate it to scan for codes and look at I/M Monitors as you drive and you operate the vehicle in the way that causes this "SERVICE ENGINE NOW" message to appear and have them read what that scanner can pull off during this.

Then if possible also have them look at the I/M monitors like Emission and Fuel and Engine sections to see what shows READY and NOT READY - what you are looking for is the subsets (those sections affected) of this condition.

Then, to help with the cause, the display can be thru those DTC codes (if any show up - why it's done first). You can find them but - not always - but it can lead us further to help you find either a loose wire or a plugged or weak sensor causing this.

Then when you have to restart the engine - the DTC may clear, but the I/M Monitors might not and still show up other monitors that were OK before this - are now NOT READY. This is good to know, because that kind of fialure may be caused by the fault. Why? If other subsystems are NOT READY AFTER the restart, then it may be more isolated to a bad wiring issue or faulty sensor versus a maintenance to a failed part like your turbo - issue.
