That makes this a little easier - may be also cheaper. In the issues around what I've encountered in my Fiesta dealing with that type of controller, or even the Fiesta's dashboard design - is due to the heat from the sun baking my dashboard and cooking the electronics with sunlight converting to heat; like oven temperatures - that type of heat from solar energy converted to heat will deform plastics and permanently damage any sort of electronics in them soon enough.
I'm losing some of the ability to control the blower by the fan speed knob getting harder to turn - it's deforming when it's exposed to higher sunlight generated temperatures being parked in the sun - and although some relief by using sunshades, rolling down windows to provide some ventilation and exchange of air, I find the quality of some sunshades adds more to the heat collection than they remove in reflecting sunlight.
It may be necessary to replace that climate controller with a newer one or if you're daring - trying others from known wreck-yards to see if the fan control in it can work with your blower as a cheaper option than the former one.
The Automatic one, is more susceptible to the heat because of the extra wiring, module support and needed electronics to make the auto in automatic work. Both in power and consumption as to even provide automation even though it would be easier to drive with the windows down using a more manual system.
