- What I Drive
- 2014 Ford Fiesta SE
We bought a 2014 Ford Fiesta SE from the city. about a year ago. It was a fleet vehicle with 45,000 miles on it. Our 19 year old daughter is its main driver and she called me this past Wednesday to say the car was acting up on her. She was on an hour and a half drive home mostly interstate but when she exited and was in stop and go traffic is when she noticed that the rpm’s were going up but the vehicle wasn’t responding like it normally would. She said once she got up to speed it was fine. There were no codes thrown at this time although check engine light was already on with aP0141 code that’s been on the vehicle since we purchased it. I had her pull over and wait for me to get there. I test drive the vehicle and have not been able to get it to duplicate. We are currently at 61,000 miles.
We do a lot of our own work on cars so I start researching and trying to get a plan in place to try to avoid trans issues. We got a great deal on this vehicle and I knew there were trans issues but we felt like benefit outweighed the risks. What are some things we can do now to help prolong the life of this vehicle? We’ve used lubegard to prolong the life of a Honda accord we have that’s nearing 300,000 miles. Since this tranny is so much different than your typical tranny what are some steps you recommend we take at this point and mileage to prolong the life of this vehicle? Trying to get her through college in it so just 3 more years….if you’ve gotten this far thank you in advance for any advice/insight you might add!!
