Hi everyone.
I have a 2006 ford fiesta and i have a couple of problems.
1 - boot button on the dash doesnt work anymore
2 - central locking flash not working anymore.
These two problems seem to have arrived together.
The remote still locks the car and unlocks it but when you are in the car and you press the handle in to lock the doors it wont lock the passenger door anymore and the indicators wont flash when locking or unlocking.
The button on the dash for the boot stopped at the same time. Pushing the button on the remote for the boot still works and sticking the key into the boot works as well.
Im just not sure what is going on. Can anyone please help?
Cheers.

Aside from "low battery" - can you engage the dashboard to get the car to ignition? I know you can't seem to start it, but take a look at messages on your main "pod" console.

As well as,

Have you checked the keyfob battery? IT may be strong enough to unlock doors but the vehicles own receiver needs to know the key.

So, if there are some blown or corroded fuses, replace them - it is a 2006 - this is 2022 - you'll have to get to the engine compartment and look around - pull fuses and relays, looking for corroded wiring or eroded - falling apart, relay components.

These things (fuseblocks) are socketed so if you have water entry, or you don't know the last time you checked the battery - might want to see if you can get it tested. Terminals - onto the battery's own condition - we don't know your service history on it, or the car, so were working with what you posted.

Given the age of the car, it could be electrical or mechanical (the latch assembly itself) or a combination. Obviously, the circuits for the right door and the boot latches would be the most potentially rewarding areas to inspect and ohm out first.

The battery in the car in brand new (only two weeks old) and still has plenty of charge, the car also starts. I just bought the car off my father due to their financial situation and age and he has had the car since new and has had mechanics look after it since. He told me its been doing for about 8 months and no one really knows why. Wiring seems ok in the engine and boot and so do the fuses. I will just have to look onto the "pod" messages though.
Cheers for your help.

Hi Scotman.
My father had the boot latch replaced a year ago due to him thinking it could be that. The mechanic also replaced both powered window buttons but now the passenger button wont work. I might just take the interior panels off and have a look for my self.
I dislike mechanics where i am due to them screwing me over a few times so now i do most work myself on all my cars unless its major.
Cheers for your help.

To me?

This may be more of locating the ground return bolts under the carpet.

IT's a 2006 so it's not out of the question that some of the wires can have corroded off the grounding bond point.
