Decat for 1.6 fiesta with catback exhaust and cold air

Honestly. I'm not too sure at this point what to do.
I'm positive I won't be adding much power decatting the car, but honestly, I want to hear more of the backfire, and popping my car already does.
It does it occasionally. But I'd like to hear it more often, and louder.
I'm not sure if I can decat the thing without throwing a code. Is the issue.
Or if I throw one, if I can bypass it or not.

Do yourself a favor. Don't cut off the cat. If you must have a raw exhaust noise, have a muffler shop install a glass pack muffler like a thrush cherry bomb or similar straight through type. Remove the catalyst and you have opened up a can worms that cannot be worked around, bypassed or otherwise tricked. There will be NO performance improvement. In fact, you will probably lose a noticeable amount of torque just going to a straight through type muffler.

I specifically am wanting backfire. But don't really know of any way to get it done

I know I will sound like an old, dinosaur fart, but a backfire is the sound of a crappy running/tuned vehicle and therefore a reflection of the mechanic. Not sure why everyone wants to sound like their car is out of or poorly tuned. Just an old guy sharing his ancient opinion...carry on.

DON'T take the cat off. Louder muffler should do it.

I was just sitting on my couch, thinking about the good old days when I was serenaded to sleep at night by the long, low rumbling of those dinosaur farts that lions tooth was speaking of a few months ago. Good times.

If you have a place that does welding and your really wanting to go catless, you can with minimal stress and complications. If you get a exhaust side face plate and collection pipes you can have a catless setup from block to flex pipe. After that it’s just about the exhaust you wish to run, but if everything is factory connections you’re golden
Once catless you will run into two codes, P0172 and P0159 which are basically saying “hey you’re running lean” and “you’re emissions are off” but a simple tune from any shop can take care of that, you’ll also have to either turn up your fuel, or or redo the whole system (I did both)
Performance wise it’s all in your hands, if you want torque, horsepower, sound, or anything in between you will have to tune your vehicle accordingly. But like I said that’s easier than you think, do what you want and have fun doing it👍🏻

Do not cut the catalytic converter off unless you absolutely have some one to tune the pcm afterwards.
When mine was starting to go bad i replaced it with a racing header cause it was chapter than a manifold assembly,
the car was running extremely rich plus code (0420 and 0421) always popped on , It already had exhaust and even bought
an after market high flow cat to do it right .However when i got the car tuned they took care of it ,eliminating the need to re cat the system
It was running so rich , I could taste the exhaust inside the car , and on rainy days i would just drove my other car it was so bad.
