This subject came up in another thread. These thin but powerful Neodymium, rare earth magnets are placed on the outside end of the oil filter housing.
I haven't cut one open in ten years. But, when i saw the gray metallic sludge material clinging to the inside of the filter element housing of my old Mustang filter, the benefits were easy to see.
