- 2007 Ford Fiesta WQ
So a while ago my Ford Fiesta ran into a whole lot of engine troubles stemming from the radiator fan falling out and disintegrating on the road (at that point in time I wasn't aware the fan had fallen off) I was about 100kms from home and at highway speeds the car was fine but getting back into the city with traffic the head gasket blew (took a few days to blow) so after taking it apart resurfacing the head etc i reassembled it all but its since gotten a lot of rod nock so I've parked it up for now, usually sourcing parts for this car would be a breeze however I live in New Zealand and the ford fiesta line was only imported from this model and up (mk6 then the ST150 and so on) so I cant get motors from a mk5 fiesta to replace it with, as machining the original engine costs more than the car, and used second hand parts are also out of the question because only 500 mk6 ford fiestas where important with half probably being auto (I have a manual) so even if there is a ford fiesta its 50/50 on if its manual or not, so I haven't had much luck sourcing any type of parts for this car (shipping from overseas is ridiculous) so after digging around finding anything that would help and I ended up finding out that the mk7 has two 1.6L engines the ecoboost one and the duratec ti-vct and aparrently the duratec ti-vct bolts directly up to the engine mounts and my transmission (given the engine is from a manual) and before posting this I found an abundance of these engines (used part shops dont stock the older fiesta model anymore in NZ) and so my question is has anyone attempted to do this swap as I know that since they it has variable cam timing it will need its own ECU and wiring but as I will probably be doing the work myself the time isnt an issue for me I just want to know if it just changing the engine, ECU, ignition, and maybe the dash cluster any help would be greatly appreciated
