h i have an issue with my 2012 SES when im in stop and go traffic the car will just stop running. mostly in 1st and 2nd gear but will also rarely happened in higher gears. or sometimes when im in reverse

here recently i have been having issues with the map sensor. i have replaced it multiple times but i will randomly get the code P0068 when said issue above happens. i also have a code that stays but wont cause the light to come on. P0420 for the Cat Thanks any help is needed. i know i could bypass the cat code with a extension of the o2 sensor but let me know

I will start by saying that i assume that the overall performance and fuel economy is probably not very good. That code P0420 is an indication of a dying catalyst. Theres no work around or pixie dust for that.
The other code P0068 is a multi faceted area. You may have a faulty throttle position sensor. The correlation is between the MAP, the MAF and the TPS. The tps is what opens the throttle plate as directed. It might not be accurately responding anymore. You should also give close scrutiny to the intake manifold for cracks loose hose connections as well as cracked hoses and tubes that would cause a loss of manifold vacuum. I imagine that you have already inspected the airbox, filter element and intake tube to the throttle body.
Good luck and report back about what you learn.

Welcome to the Forum! Sorry to see you stopping by having trouble, but we are here to try an help as much as we can...

Hmm, ok, when you replace this sensor, your 2012 has two locations it may be at...one, on the Intake Snorkel, while the MAP (combined MAF POST 2014) sensor is on the INTAKE manifold, and it's by a hose that arrives to the INTAKE MANIFOLD from the PCV oil ventilation valve..

The MAP and MAF go hand in hand.- while if one gets replaced but the other doesn't, or that other one doesn't even get looked at or cleaned up - it will not be able to "Track" your throttle and air temperatures, flow as well as be able to provide any means to offset torque or RPM, or even acceleration and other kinds of stuff You need the engine to do - "...if one works, great! But I need this too..." - sort of thing is going on inside your PCM hard to make it work without all three working simultaneously

Your 2012 should look like this under the hood.

I own a 2018 - but that uses a COMBINED MAP/MAF sensor located on the Intake manifold.

MAFPCVValve.png

It's right on the intake - see that connector dropping to the bottom of the photo - that is a MAP/MAF combo sensor there - you may have a sensor there that may need to be cleaned.

That little guy has 1 screw Torx-20 holding onto the manifold, it should look like this...

May be slight cosmetic diffs but are similar - the number may be different but this sensor and it's location is where you need to look for - remove it, and clean it up check the connector and wiring harness to it too, that can set a similar train of codes because it doesn't communicate anymore or its connection to the harness is intermittent.

As far as the Catalytic Converter, this condition of plugged sensors can then ruin the emissions, so the converter is trying to clean up the rich fuel this thing puts out. So, it's plugged up and there's little anyone can do expect replacement because of the damages long term sensor failures can take their toll on.

Just some things for a DIY-er can do to help diagnose this problem...

CRC Industries recently released this little double shot of love! A combo of their excellent MAF cleaner spray and Throttle body/intake cleaner.
They are not the usual 12Oz or larger size, which can be pretty expensive for someone who does not often work on their car.
They are an adequately sized 5 ounces and are enough to get the job done once. And are under $20 bucks at Walmart. 20201030_095945.jpg
