Hi all, bit of a dumb question but new to the Ford scene. Brand new Ford Fiesta but whenever I’ve rev the engine or get some wheel spin in the bad weather I get a really bad burning smell which I’m assuming is the clutch.

question is, is this a normal occurrence with fords? My VW never burned out so easily unless I was really pushing it with the clutch and accelerator

Sounds like a clutch slip. How many miles on the clutch is relative to how hard it's been used (essentially slipped). Like brakes, it's normal for a clutch to wear out. Unless you only use the clutch to start from a stop and shift by matching revs, a clutch will wear out, Ford or not.

IF the FORD has Traction control - and you are using a MANUAL - YIKES...

Next time?

Turn off the Traction Control. when you're able to, in those situations.

Why?

Very thing you encountered - Wheel Spin. TRAC-C tries to counteract against it. Hit's brakes to steady the vehicle.

The smell could also be from Brakes and their pads too.
