Hi All,

I have a 2010 Mk 7 Fiesta Titanium and for the first time a few months back (despite zero prior issues and having had the system cleaned and regassed last autumn), my a/c didn’t work.

After frantically pressing various buttons (pic of my climate control unit type below) during a rest stop, it came back on, but recently (just my luck on the hottest day of the year), the same happened again and no amount of pressing anything solved the problem.

I pulled out and replaced the mini fuse in the engine bay fuse box for the A/C and also made sure the relay for such was firmly pressed in.

On my last trip after this, it worked again with no problem, but am slightly anxious that it seems this temperamental suddenly.

I can at times hear a clicking sound from behind the dash which I’m assuming is the blend door opening and closing until the needed temperature of air starts flowing?

Has anyone else experienced similar or have any suggestions as to what the cause could be and how to fix it? Is there a definite “reset” button combo for a 2010 control unit?

Many thanks in advance

Yours, meltingly!

This may be from several events that make this want to fail...

One main one being that you -re-gassed- the A/C refrigerant (at least that's what I think you meant) and if you used enough oil or someone may have bumped a sensor in the passenger footwell knocking the sensor out so it can't see the air temperature in the Ventilation housing to know if the AC even works of not.

Try reading this thread...

A longer thread but covers a lot more that might help you...
https://www.fordfiesta.org/threads/...d-really-appreciate-some-help.8760/post-23478

This then brings up another problem of correctly pressurizing the system so it can function in all temperatures and work right out of the gate.

This deals with Compressor Oil, the Freon - type used and if it's synthetic or Ford-grade - and if you put in enough or not enough to make the system seem to work. In your case it did not on the hottest days but seems to work on less hot days - big clue here.

There is a pressure switch that first looks at the Freon pressure in a "static" system - if there is the right amount - the system energizes and you get A/C from your vents. If it's not correct, like too little or too much it won't go.

Or, someone could have knocked a connector off a sensor in the foot-well and you just have to track it down...

Thanks for the detailed reply! Will have a read of the links you put and see if that gives any ideas or points to action to be taken. Yes, it was the refrigerant which was topped up (not by me but a company) which included testing all the various parts of the system. The intermittent working is a very recent thing. Will maybe have a look in the footwell areas to see if anything obvious behind the panels.

Thanks for getting back with us. I hope it is something simple.

Here in the USA we often have Do-It-Yourselfers that as the process of maintenance and refill care for Car A/C get disseminated, oftentimes steps get overlooked. If you had worked at the places I've worked in, you'd realize how important some little detail that gets forgotten - like changing the Cabin Air Filter, can wreak havoc with vehicles - where the owner screams "It was working fine until you'd fixed it...WHADIDAHDOYOUTOIT?"

Let us know how this goes then you can update the header with FIXED or something like that to help others!
