Ford brought a next-generation 2018 Fiesta ST performance hatchback to the Geneva Motor Show this week. Big news: the latest Fiesta ST receives a new powertrain-a 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine that enlivens Ford's performance lineup in Europe as the company gets its Ford GT supercar ready to race at Le Mans 24 Hours. The 2018 Fiesta ST reaches U.S. showrooms early next year.

A few styling changes are featured on the new Fiesta ST, including a modified front and rear and new wheels as well as the new 3-cylinder engine with selectable driving modes. The new engine delivers 200 PS (197 horsepower)-the same as the previous model with a 4-cylinder engine-but adds more torque 290 Nm (214 lb.-ft.). Ford says the new Fiesta ST will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds, matching the previous model's time. The engine relies on port and direct fuel injection and turbocharging with cylinder deactivation for responsiveness and reduced emissions, Ford states.

Ford's Fiesta ST features drive modes that adjust steering and stability control from Normal to Sport and Track settings. Electronic sound enhancement allows for active exhaust noise control for a husky sound. The new Fiesta ST will be available in 3-door and 5-door versions in Europe with a larger variety of interior treatments and personalization options, according to Ford officials.

On the same stage as the new Fiesta ST, Ford honors its connection to motorsports by showcasing an already-introduced Ford GT '66 Heritage Edition to remind of its 1966 Le Mans-winning Ford GT40. The commemorative GT comes in Shadow Black gloss or matte paint finish with silver stripes. It features a Frozen White #2 hood, door graphics, and rides on 20-in. aluminum wheels finished in gold satin clearcoat. A 10-in. digital instrument display and screen with racing-inspired graphics is part of the package. This supercar is tuned for five driving modes and is powered by the Ford GT's standard 3.5-liter V-6 EcoBoost engine, which produces 647 horsepower with 550 lb.-ft. of torque and reaches a top speed of 347 km/h (216 mph).
